The Women’s Major Group has endorsed the statement initiated by global South feminists including: BRICS Feminist Watch and its members: PWESCR, The Inequality Movement, GenDeV Center for Research and Innovation, Espaco Feminista, Feminist Land Platform, IWRAW- AP, FEIM and Reclaiming Narratives.

The statement raises concerns around the following for G20 countries:

  • Wide consultations with feminist groups and CSOs globally and at the country level;
  • Include issues of right to health and wellbeing including SRHR;
  • Have track on gender equality within the G20 with integrated monitoring and evaluation systems;
  • Ratification ILO Convention No. 190 and all international and regional conventions relating to VAWG along with fulfilling several international commitments on gender equality;
  • Support and create provisions for women’s rights to land and productive resources and their control and ownership over the assets;
  • Put gender at centre to recovery process, vaccine equity, public investments in care economy and social protection mechanisms during COVID-19 pandemic;
  • Ensure that Afghan women’s and girls’ rights are guaranteed and prevented;
  • Promote and strengthen existing feminist efforts including financial inclusion, sustainable energy and digital literacy for gender equality.
